This presentation is a guide to amplifiers and instrumentation in polysomnography. It will address basic electrical principles and outline differential amplification as well as filters, polarity and amplitude calculations. Upon completion of this class the student should be able to know and understand the origin of readings in the PSG and apply these principles in the sleep lab.

Upon completion of this presentation viewers should:

• Know and understand amplifiers and instrumentation when conducting a PSG
• Understand basic electrical principles
• Know and understand filters, polarity, and amplitude calculations
• Know origins of PSG readings
• Be able to apply these principles in sleep lab
