Course Description

Cost of this program includes courses and materials. No travel or lodging expenses are included, but you may call the ASBA for assistance with these plans. Breakfast is provided during on-site segments.

Program Summary:
This course is designed for beginners, with limited or no experience in sleep disorders. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the core technical theories and safety standards of a Level 1 Trainee sleep technician, as well as provide the opportunity to receive hands-on experience with a mock patient and laboratory equipment. Upon completing all course requirements and successfully passing a 50 question exit exam, graduates of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy’s Basic Course will receive a certificate of completion and be prepared for entry level tech work at a local sleep disorders center.

In addition, students will have completed 7/14 modules upon completion of this course. These are part of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist’s board exam eligibility requirements.

Method of Completion:
All courses are taught on-demand so the learner may progress through the program at their own pace, and from a preferred location. Students have up to 45 days to complete the on-line courses, mini-exams*, and reading assignments, after which they will be qualified to attend the final two day on-site segment of the program**. If you would prefer to take the entire course on-site, that is also available. ***

The entire ASBA Basic Course can be completed within one week****.

*Students must pass all mini-exams with a 70% or greater in order to complete the individual courses.
**On-site portion must be completed within 75 days after enrollment.
*** On-site Basic Course in its entirety is available in Salt Lake City, UT only, and on scheduled dates.
**** ASBA must receive all mini-exam results prior to on-site check-in.
